Limit your response to no
more than 12 images and 1000 words.
Type Thrill
Rides:
Type 1
Thrill Ride
Description: Prefer Thrill Ride
Image:
1.
Size: Less than 7.
2.
Where: Mostly thrill rides.
3.
Common: 20+ groups.
4.
Observation: These groups played many thrill rides successively,
and they often stayed in the same thrill ride for more than 3000 seconds.
5.
Inference: The thrilll rides are very
attractive and many people queued for a long time to enter the rides such as
Terror Saur.
6.
Improvement: Restrict the count of waiting people out of thrill rides.
Rearranged all thrill rides together.
Type 2. West
Gate
Description: Entering west gate and Left
from west gate during the day
Image:
1.
Size: 4-5 people.
2.
Where: All kinds of places.
3.
Common: About 50 groups in three days.
4.
Observation: These groups left the park through west
gate for 1-3 hours in the afternoon.
5.
Inference: They might stay at tents or recreational vehicles at the Camp
Iguanodon. They may be not town residents and did not concern about the arrival
of Scott Jones. Therefore, they went back to take a rest and eat something
outside of park.
6.
Improvement: The Park staff may organize a welcome session for people
from other places to introduce the celebration event of Scott.
Type 3. Kiddle Rides
Description: Prefer Kiddle
Rides
Image:
1.
Size: 1- 4 People.
2.
Where: They preferred Kiddle
Rides and Rides for everyone rather than Thrill Rides.
3.
Common: 20-30 groups.
4.
Observation: Though these groups preferred to go to Kiddle Rides than others, they seldom went to Kiddle Rides continously.
5.
Inference: This type may have children in the group. Kiddle Rides is a little boring.
6.
Improvement: Make Kiddle
Rides more interesting and attractive. It would be helpful to provide children
playground and rest areas around Kiddle Rides Zone.
Type 4. East
Gate
Description: Entering from East Gate and
Stay in at Hotel
Image:
1.
Size: 4-6 people
2.
Where: They like to go to rides more than theater
and show.
3.
Common: This type of group is very common, more than
60 groups.
4.
Observation: Some of them left twice from the east
gate at lunch (about 12pm) and dinner time in the late afternoon (about 6 pm).
Most of them didn’t go to food shop in the park; some other groups left the
park once through east gate in the afternoon (from 1 p.m
to 4 p.m). They usually had only one meal in the park,
early lunch or late dinner.
5.
Inference: They may stay at hotel Jeredactyl Lodge located next to DinoFun
World and during the day they can return back to hotel for a rest and go
outside of park for food. Hence, they may not be local people, who may also be
interested to visit other places in town other than the park.
6.
Improvement: For people from outside of the town, a
booklet or other navigation guide may be helpful.
Type 5. North
Gate

Leave from North Gate during Noon
Image:
1. Size: Mostly small group below 10 people
2. Where: They like to go to theater, show,
rides more than shopping areas
3. Common: This type of group is not common
in Friday.
4. Observation: These people entered from
North Gate in the morning and left from North Gate in the noon for about 1-2 hours,
and then re-enter the park again.
5. Inference: This type of group should be
mostly local people, as they are not common on Friday, the working day. They
may go outside of park for food, as they knew other dinning
area in the town well.
6. Improvement: Park may offer cheaper three
days ticket to local people, to encourage them to visit on Friday.
Type 6.
Shopping:

night.
Image:

of activities, these people prefer to go shopping in the evening.
5.
Inferrence: Many shopping lovers
spent too much time in walking from one shop to another.
6.
Improvement: Some people who really love shopping
need to go a long way from one shop to another. The park could rearrange the
shops together to meet such needs.
Type 7. Reunion in Restaurants:
Description: These people spent lots of
time enjoying various kinds of food in the park.
Image:
1.
Size: Mostly 3-4 people.
2.

family who only seek to have relaxing time together.
6.
Improvements: Some small groups tend to have food in
different places. These seem to be real food lovers. However, they usually had

in park and may be not fans of scott.

MC1.2 – Are there notable differences in the patterns of activity on in the
park across the three days? Please
describe the notable difference you see.
Limit your
response to no more than 3 images and 300 words.
Figure 2-1 Gates check-in for 3 days.
Figure 2-2 More Crowded and Longer
Waiting Time in Sat. and Sun.
We find Sunday and Saturday are much more crowded in the park comparing with Friday. We
can observe the increasing number of visitors from the North gate. The other
two gates, east and west gate are relatively stable in number of visitors. Some
park activities are near saturation in Sunday and Saturday (for example, Flight
of the Swingodon, TerrorSaur,
Wendisaurus Chase). Visitors
take much longer time in peak time in the queue to participate in the
activities. Showing in the color bar visualization for check-in sequence,
waiting time in peak hours are much longer (case of Wendisaurus
Chase, from 313 seconds to 3835 seconds, including game time).
Figure 2-3 Sunday
Afternoon Acitivity Change (y-number of check-ins)
We also notice there are actitvity changes in sunday
afternoon. As show in above figure which showing people counts at each checking
point, there are two activities (Scott Soccer Showcase Shows) every day in Grinosaurus Stage attracting 500-1200 people in each show. The first 5 shows happened normally and the last one, sunday afternoon show was cancel.
Sunday afternoon we also see activity cancellation in Creighton Pavilion where
taking the exibition of Scott’s awards and medals.
MC1.3 – What anomalies or unusual patterns do you see? Describe no more
than 10 anomalies, and prioritize those unusual patterns that you think are
most likely to be relevant to the crime.
Limit your
response to no more than 10 images and 500 words.
Firstly, we saw is the cancelation of activties in Grinosaurus Stage in the sunday afternoon. Scott canceled his show.http://vacommunity.org/2015+VAST+Challenge%3A+Grand+Challenge
The second abnormality is the activities change in Creighton Pavillion. No exibhtion in the afternoon. It looks like something happened during the noon.
Also, it’s obvious that these two visiting patterns are complemantary. It’s possible that the Creighton Pavillion temporarily closed when the talk was carried on.
The third abnomality is a group of 7 come in Sunday. They first went briefly to Creighton Pavillion for around 15 mins. Around 3 pm. They frist went to Grinosaurus Stage and stayed very short time. After then, they moved to a restroom nearby and “stayed” there for near 6 hours. One ID 1096309 is missing his track. Then around 9:00pm. All other 6 people jump to place near north in the park and exit immediately.
Fourthly, We observed a group of 8 people who has been identified as the Scott’s bodyguards. Their activities are very regular in the first two days and the morning of Sunday.
They only went to No.63 without checkin half an hour before speech and leave the Stage half an hour after the speech finished. They did not showing up in the afternoon of Sunday.
Fifthly, We notice that there are strange individuals who did not check in, but instea wandered around. They only stopped by three kinds of locations: Rides for Everyone, Kiddle Rides, and Entertainment(No.32 and No.64) multiple times. These people have very odd and similar behaviors, but they did not move together. Each ID only appears in one day, but this pattern could be observed every day. That could be the same group of people who changed their phones every day to evade monitoring.
The 6th. We find a group of people (44 people), went to Sabretooth Theatre
The 7th. We find a group of 4 people stay at the No.63 Stage from 10 a.m. to 16 p.m. on Friday. There is not speech during the noon, the 4 people still stay at the stage.
